Roofing and Siding Replacement on West Cornwall Court in Lafayette, CO with James Hardie Fiber Cement and GAF ArmorShield II Shingles

The Problem

Tonja's home on West Cornwall Court in Lafayette, CO was fighting a battle on two fronts. The composite wood siding, original to the 1982 build, had been problematic since installation and was visibly warping and breaking down across the entire exterior by the time she reached out to WestPro. The roof was in worse shape: heavy hail damage, both new and old hits, covering the surface. After a thorough inspection, our Project Consultant recommended filing an insurance claim and tackling both. With insurance approval, WestPro got to work. What followed was two back-to-back projects: siding in the fall of 2023 and a full roof replacement in the spring of 2024 that left her home fully protected from the outside in.

What We Did

The Siding (Fall 2023)

The siding scope started before a single piece of new material could go up because when the crew pulled the old composite siding off, what they found underneath changed the plan. The sheathing had deteriorated to the point it couldn't support new siding, so the team replaced it entirely with 7/16" OSB across the house and garage. When the walls opened up further, they found framing that needed additional 2x4 blocking before the sheathing could be laid. Tonja approved the change order quickly and the project kept moving without significant delay.

For the new siding, Tonja chose James Hardie HardiePlank lap siding in the Statement collection color Light Mist, finished with Arctic White trim throughout, a combination she landed on after seeing the Statement package during her design consultation. The pairing gave the home a clean, refreshed look that felt like a natural evolution of its character rather than a dramatic overhaul. Trim work included new Hardie trim board on the front door and replacement garage door weatherstripping to round out the scope.

The Roof (Spring 2024)

A few months later, WestPro was back on West Cornwall Court - this time for the roof. Tonja's insurance claim covered the replacement, and we put together a solid scope to make sure she got the most out of it. Lafayette Building Code states that shingle coverings MUST be Class 4 impact resistant. The roof was replaced with GAF ArmorShield II shingles in Pewter Gray, a premium Class 4 impact-resistant shingle built to stand up to Colorado's hail seasons. The installation also included GAF Snow Country Advanced ridge vents and Intake Pro ventilation, a system designed to keep airflow balanced year-round and extend the life of the new roof.

The Result

By spring 2024, Tonja's home had a fully updated exterior: new James Hardie siding, new sheathing, and a Class 4 impact-resistant roof, all handled by the same team across two separate projects.
