Project Coordinated by Customer Service TeamVelux Skylight Replacement on Spring Creek Place in Boulder, CO - Leaking Skylight Replacement
The Problem
Teresa's tri-level townhouse on Spring Creek Place in Boulder, CO had two skylights on the upper level that had been giving her trouble, with visible signs of water getting inside where it shouldn't.
Why It Needed Replacing
A closer inspection found both skylights had failed past the point of a simple fix. The top skylight had a crack, with clear water staining visible from the roof side. The bottom skylight had cracks at several corners, and water had worked its way between the glass panes themselves, something that was already trapped and visible at the time of inspection. Both units were only going to get worse from there. A reseal was available as a short-term option, but given the extent of the damage, full replacement was the right call for a lasting fix.
What We Did
We removed both failing skylights and installed new Velux FCM 2230 fixed skylights on the west elevation, matching the original 26" x 34" openings. After installation, the homeowner flagged a couple of cosmetic touch-up items around the new skylights, leftover material residue and rough drywall edges where the wall met the new units. Our team went back out and addressed the paint and finish work so the area looked clean and complete.
