Hail Damage Roof Replacement with GAF ArmorShield II Class 4 Shingles on Syracuse Way in Thornton, Colorado
The Problem
This home on Syracuse Way in Thornton, CO had taken hail damage significant enough that the city of Thornton required a full roof replacement rather than individual shingle repairs. The roof was damaged, but the City of Thornton re-roof code does not allow roof repairs of this size depending on the damaged roof slopes. Jose's insurance carrier initially denied the full roof replacement claim, leaving him stuck with a damaged roof and no clear path forward. Additionally, Jose's previous contractor had gone unresponsive without making any progress on the claim denial. He needed some help, and we were happy to do it.
What We Did
First we got the full claim covered. Frankly, that took a while. After ensuring full replacement approval (and appropriate payment to Jose) from the insurance company, we replaced Jose's roof with GAF ArmorShield II Class 4 impact-resistant shingles in Charcoal. Jose chose to upgrade to the Class 4 option because of its superior hail resistance, which made sense given the storm damage that started this whole process, and because the insurance settlement helped offset the upgrade cost. The installation included new synthetic underlayment, drip edge flashing, pipe jack replacements, and updated roof ventilation, including a swap to a larger Broan vent to meet city inspection requirements. The project passed the City of Thornton's mid-roof and final inspections.
Jose came to WestPro as a referral from his neighbor, who had been through a similar insurance battle. He and his wife were patient and engaged throughout a process that involved a denied claim, an appraisal dispute, HOA color approval, and before a single shingle was installed. When the project manager wrapped up the final walkthrough, we finished up with a few outstanding gutter items with Jose in person. It was a long process but he was happy enough with our service that he left us a 5 star review. Makes us proud.

The Result
This project was completed by WestPro Home Exteriors in early 2026. Jose was very happy with the final result, and given everything he and his wife navigated to get there, that satisfaction was well earned. Projects like this are a good reminder that the right roofing contractor does more than install shingles.
