Roof Replacement on Berkeley Court in Longmont, Colorado - Hail Damage Insurance Project

The Problem

Brad's home on Berkeley Court in Longmont, CO had taken hail damage, and with the roof dating back to 1978, a repair wasn't a realistic option. The insurance claim had already been denied, so Brad moved forward on his own to get the roof replaced before the damage could compound.

Why It Needed Replacing

The existing shingles were about 47 years old and well past their useful life. The hail damage had compromised what little protection remained, and patching a roof that age wouldn't have held up reliably.

What We Did

We replaced Brad's roof with GAF ArmorShield II shingles in Barkwood: a warm, earthy tone that complemented the home well. Brad chose the Class 4 impact-resistant ArmorShield II specifically because of the insurance discount potential, which helped offset the upgrade cost after his claim had been denied. The project also included new gutters, installed in Musket Brown after the originally specified color turned out to be discontinued.

One notable moment during the project: the crew discovered that a power vent Brad had just installed three months prior needed to come out as part of the roofing work. The project manager worked quickly to coordinate a replacement attic fan through a local HVAC company, and the new fan was installed before the job was closed out. The final inspection passed, the GAF warranty was registered following completion, and the team filled out the insurance discount form for Brad's Farmers Insurance policy so he could take advantage of the Class 4 shingle credit going forward.

Project Details

This was a steep-slope shingle roof replacement on a home built in 1978. The project covered the full roof along with new gutters. The slope required a crew experienced with steeper pitches, and materials were delivered the day before installation to stage everything properly on the roof.

The Result

Brad was happy with how everything came together, from the new Barkwood shingles to the Musket Brown gutters. The team made sure the ventilation situation was fully resolved before closing out the job. This project was completed by WestPro Home Exteriors in 2025 on the Colorado Front Range.
