Brand: WestPro
Rating: 5 (69 reviews)

Project Summary

WestPro completed a full siding and gutter replacement on this Arvada, CO home in October 2024. We installed James Hardie 8.25" HardiePlank Lap Siding ColorPlus in Evening Blue, paired with 5" Seamless Aluminum Gutter System in White and James Hardie HardieTrim in Arctic White. The project was finished after coordinating with other trades to ensure all exterior elements were complete.

The Problem

When Beth first reached out to us, the wood siding on her Arvada home had been causing concern for a while. The siding was old, cracked, and had pulled away from the house in several spots, a look that no longer fit her vision for the property. She wanted a complete refresh that would stand the test of time.

Our Project Consultant Andy performed his inspection and confirmed that the existing wood siding was past its useful life. The material was deteriorating and the trim had separated from the wall structure. Because the siding was failing in multiple areas, patching would only be a temporary fix, making a full replacement the only sensible option to restore the home's integrity. Andy sent 3D models of the home with new visions of what Beth's siding could look like, which ultimately sealed the deal upon seeing her dream home come to life.

Why It Needed Replacing

Repairing the existing wood siding would not have provided a lasting solution because the material was already cracked and pulling away from the structure. As it pulls away from the home, water can find its way behind the siding and damage the sheathing underneath, causing rot and deterioration to the very thing holding the siding to the wall. Replacing the siding was necessary to bring the exterior up to current standards and provide a durable, uniform surface that matches the homeowner's desired aesthetic.

What We Did

We began the project by removing the old wood siding and preparing the substrate for the new installation. Our team installed James Hardie 8.25" HardiePlank Lap Siding ColorPlus in Evening Blue across the main walls of the home. We installed James Hardie Panel Cedarmill ColorPlus where specified to ensure a cohesive exterior finish and to prepare for the battens to create the accent look. To complete the look, we added James Hardie 2.5" HardieTrim in Arctic White for the board and batten sections and James Hardie HardieTrim in Arctic White for the standard trim areas.

For the drainage system, we installed a 5" Seamless Aluminum Gutter System in White that runs along the eaves. As part of the additional scope, we added new drip edge along the eaves and rakes and installed new roof vents to improve the home's overall exterior performance. The entire installation was completed with attention to detail to ensure a clean, professional finish.

Price Context

This project's siding work was completed at approximately $28 per sq ft installed. This rate represents the complete installed scope for the siding portion of this home, including tear-off, trim, and labor. Homeowners considering a similar James Hardie 8.25" HardiePlank Lap Siding – ColorPlus project in Colorado should generally expect pricing in the range of $20.00–$24.00/sq ft installed. Pricing for this trade varies based on the complexity of the wall surface, the specific trim package required, and any necessary sheathing repairs. One significant advantage of this product is that ColorPlus siding is factory-finished, which saves time and eliminates the cost of hiring a painter.

Homeowners considering a similar 5" Seamless Aluminum Gutters project in Colorado should generally expect pricing in the range of $13.00–$15.00/LF installed. Costs for gutters depend on the total linear footage, the number of downspouts needed, and site access. Seamless gutters are formed on-site from a continuous coil of aluminum, which eliminates seams that are common leak points. Bundling gutter replacement with a larger siding project is often the most efficient approach, as the crew is already on-site to handle the installation.
