Project Summary

WestPro completed a full exterior replacement on this Lafayette, CO home in October 2024. Our team replaced the roof, installed new siding, and added a seamless gutter system to update the entire property. The project was finished in October 2024.

The Problem

When Tonja first reached out to us, she had been living in her Lafayette home for over thirty years and noticed that her exterior was finally showing its age. She originally contacted us to inspect the siding along with the soffit and fascia, hoping to get a clear picture of what needed attention on her house. The inspection revealed that the existing composite wood siding was deteriorating and warping, having been faulty since the home was built in 1982. We also found significant hail damage on the roof, with both recent and older impacts visible across the surface. Because the siding was failing and the roof had sustained substantial damage, repairing individual sections would not have provided a lasting solution for the home.

For the roof, we advised Tonja to file an insurance claim as the hail damage was obvious and the roof was compromised due to the extent of it.

Why It Needed Replacing

Although Tonja was not experiencing leaks, the composite wood siding installed in 1982 was deteriorating and warping beyond repair. A full replacement was the right choice because patching would leave the surrounding aging material in place, making future failures likely, while new siding would not match the weathered existing panels.

What We Did

We began the project by removing the old roofing materials and replacing damaged sections of the roof decking with new OSB where needed. Our team then installed ABC Pro Guard 20 Synthetic Underlayment across the roof surface, followed by GAF WeatherWatch Leak Barrier in critical areas to protect against water intrusion. We secured the perimeter with a new drip edge along the eaves and rakes before laying down GAF Timberline ArmorShield II Shingles in Pewter Gray. These shingles are Class 4 impact-resistant, providing strong protection for your home. We completed the roof installation with GAF Pro-Start Starter Strip at the edges and finished the peaks with GAF Seal-A-Ridge AS Ridge Cap Shingles in Pewter Gray.

The exterior work included installing James Hardie 8.25-inch HardiePlank Lap Siding in Light Mist to refresh the siding appearance. We finished the exterior with trim painted in Arctic White to provide a clean contrast against the siding. We removed the existing soffit and fascia and replaced the soffit with James Hardie soffit in Arctic White. We also installed a 5-inch Seamless Aluminum Gutter System to manage water runoff effectively for the home.
