Project Coordinated by Customer Service TeamGAF Class 4 Roof Replacement in Lyons, CO – Wind Damage Insurance Claim
Project Summary
We replaced the full roof on this Lyons, CO home in April 2026. Our team installed GAF Timberline ArmorShield II Shingles in Pewter Gray paired with ABC Pro Guard 20 Synthetic Underlayment and GAF WeatherWatch Leak Barrier along the vulnerable areas. The project was completed after a thorough inspection and claim process that began earlier in the year.
The Problem
When Mandy first reached out to us, she noticed shingles scattered in her driveway following a recent windstorm. She contacted WestPro because she wanted to understand the extent of the damage and ensure her home was protected from further weather intrusion while we sorted out the next steps. We moved quickly to tarp the roof to prevent water entry until the insurance process could begin.
Upon inspection, we found significant wind damage across three-quarters of the roof sides. The previous installation had widespread seal failures with many shingles not sealed or nailed properly which left them vulnerable to lifting in high winds. Because the existing materials were compromised so extensively by poor workmanship and weather exposure the roof had reached the end of its useful life.
Why It Needed Replacing
A partial repair was not a viable option because the improper installation affected such a large portion of the roof that patching would have left weak spots intact. Replacing the entire system allowed us to remove the failed underlayment and bring the whole roof up to current building standards with proper sealing and nailing.
What We Did
We began by tearing off the existing asphalt shingles down to the deck. We installed ABC Pro Guard 20 Synthetic Underlayment across the roof surface and applied GAF WeatherWatch Leak Barrier in critical areas along with RhinoRoof Self-Adhered Underlayment for added protection. We then laid GAF Timberline ArmorShield II Shingles in Pewter Gray which are Class 4 impact-resistant followed by GAF Seal-A-Ridge AS Ridge Cap Shingles in the matching Pewter Gray color.
We used GAF Pro-Start Starter Strip to secure the eaves and completed the project with new metal components. This included new drip edge along the eaves and rakes new step flashing new valley metal and new pipe jack flashing. We also installed a GAF Cobra IntakePro Vent to ensure proper attic ventilation.

Price Context
This project was completed at approximately $8 per sq ft installed. Because no two homes are identical cost varies from home to home.
The price covers a full tear-off and replacement permit and labor. Homeowners considering a similar GAF ArmorShield II Shingles project in Colorado should generally expect pricing in the range of $6.75–$8.50/sq ft installed.
Pricing varies based on factors like roof size pitch the number of existing shingle layers ventilation upgrades skylights chimneys decking replacement and local building-code requirements. Ice and water shield ridge vent upgrades second-layer tear-offs and chimney or step flashing can also move the price up. Many Colorado insurance carriers offer premium discounts for Class 4 roofs which can help offset costs over time. Pricing reflects WestPro project data and current Colorado Front Range supplier costs. For an exact price on your home the best next step is a free no-obligation inspection.
